This study from Google delves into what if takes to create a high performing team.  The article is part of a broader trend by Google and others to place emphasis on team dynamics rather than the raw ability of individual team members.  Once “intangibles” were factored in the study found five key factors:

  2. Structure and clarity of roles and goals,
  3. Meaning of the work beyond being a job,
  4. Positive Impact of the work,
  5. Psychological Safety which translates into happier employees.
